We denounce the company’s attempt to dismiss a colleague who is an elected member of the Board of Directors of our Union, today, Monday 5/1/2025.
Before 2026 had even properly begun, the company, acting behind closed doors, sent a dismissal notice to our colleague, despite the fact that in the previous period he had been informed that he would be transferred to another department.
Following the intervention of our Union, the company was forced to withdraw the unacceptable dismissal of our colleague, using the absurd argument that it “was not aware” of his position.
We remind the company that our colleague is a member of the Board of Directors of the Union and has met with the management in that capacity on issues concerning the workers. He has also carried out interventions in his project together with other colleagues in order to improve working conditions.
Of course, the real issue is not whether the company knew or did not know who our colleague was which it was obliged to know but the fact that, just a few days after the holidays, yet another worker was about to be left without a job, because the company considers him a cost.
For us, the position is clear and non-negotiable: no colleague is expendable.
We know very well that employers do not respect laws and regulations. They do not take into account our needs or the needs of our families.
We call on all colleagues to strengthen our Union and to contact us immediately regarding any issue that arises.
We continue our struggle to meet all our contemporary needs for better wages and improved working conditions and on these demands we will not take a single step back.
Even more colleagues must organize and fight through our Union — to block the company’s plans and escalate our collective struggle.
