Our determination scares them!!
Workers from the company’s largest Greek-speaking department, following mass assemblies, decided to proceed with two-day work stoppages demanding humane working conditions.
The Board of our Union convened and decided to support the workers by officially declaring the work stoppages.
The company’s fear in the face of the mass participation and determination of the workers was such that it immediately took legal action against the Union, attempting to block our colleagues’ struggle, while even demanding an enormous financial penalty as “compensation”.
The Union and the workers jointly decided not to give the company any excuse to attack our struggle. We therefore decided to withdraw the two-day work stoppage while fully supporting tomorrow’s (3/6) morning work stoppage from 9:00 to 13:00, and to proceed with a General Assembly on Sunday 7/6, where we will decide on the next steps of escalation.
We call on trade unions across the sector to support our struggle and stand by our side, sending the message that no attempt at intimidation can stop workers who are determined to take their lives into their own hands!
