We stand in solidarity with the NOVA Workers’ Union and the workers in the back office department who, after more than 20 years of continuous work, are being thrown out onto the street under the guise of supposedly “attractive” voluntary redundancy schemes.
The company ignores the fact that many of these workers — the majority of them women — are only a few years away from retirement. Others are mothers with young children. Even workers battling cancer have been targeted.
Once again, one of the telecommunications giants shows that workers are seen as nothing more than a cost.
They are pushing out older employees in order to bring in new workers without rights, without seniority, and above all with lower demands.
This will not pass!
We will not leave our colleagues at NOVA — or at any other company pursuing similar practices — to face this alone.
