The Workers’ Union at Webhelp (Concentrix) stands in solidarity with the fair struggle of farmers across the country.
Farmers who are fighting to provide affordable and quality products are struggling to make ends meet in the face of EU and Common Agriculture Policy (CAP), of all previous governments, and of the endless scandals that keep emerging. They are fighting so that we too can buy the products they produce at fair prices — not at prices determined by the profits of those who intervene between the field and the market, from the wholesalers to the supermarket shelves.
They have taken to the streets, using the only weapon they have to demand the right to stay and work on their land, for themselves and their families.
In our sector, we know very well what struggle means — and what it means to resist the suffocation of low wages, endless overtime, work without a proper schedule, without understanding of personal circumstances such as chronic illnesses, and so on. We know the need to stand up against anything that puts our lives and our rights in second place.
We denounce the government’s attempt to break the farmers’ militant mobilizations by once again sending in the riot police to crack down violently.
They did not succeed — and they will not succeed as long as all of us, workers and farmers alike, stand side by side in the struggle for a life and a job with rights, for a future free from the rot of a system that wants us as slaves to the politics of profit.
